Bharti Airtel has announced a strategic partnership with AI-powered search engine Perplexity, offering a complimentary 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription—valued at Rs 17,000—to all 360 million of its customers across mobile, Wi-Fi, and DTH services.
This marks Perplexity’s first collaboration with an Indian telecom provider and introduces Indian users to a powerful AI-driven search and answer engine that delivers real-time, accurate, and well-researched responses in a conversational format. Unlike traditional search engines, Perplexity upgrades the experience from simple webpage listings to clear, concise answers that users can refine using self-learning AI tools.
The Pro version of Perplexity includes premium features such as enhanced daily Pro searches, access to advanced AI models like GPT-4.1 and Claude, image generation, file uploads and analysis, and exclusive tools through Perplexity Labs—designed for deep research and productivity.
All Airtel users can activate their free Perplexity Pro subscription by logging into the Airtel Thanks app.
Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, said,
“We’re thrilled to launch this groundbreaking partnership with Perplexity, bringing their cutting-edge GenAI technology exclusively to Airtel users. This initiative is aimed at empowering millions with instant access to knowledge, helping them navigate the digital world with ease and confidence.”
Perplexity CEO and Co-founder Aravind Srinivas added,
“This partnership is a major step in making reliable, high-quality AI accessible across India—whether it’s a student, a professional, or a homemaker. With Perplexity Pro, users gain a smarter, more efficient way to find information, learn, and accomplish tasks.”
This offering illustrates how AI can impact daily life—from assisting students with academic research, to helping homemakers make informed decisions, to supporting professionals with vacation planning. The productivity boost and simplified access to information make this partnership a significant leap in India's AI adoption journey.
