ACME Aklera Power Technology Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of ACME Solar Holdings Ltd, has been awarded approximately Rs 47.40 crore in Change in Law compensation by the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC).
The compensation pertains to the company’s 250 MW solar project contracted with SECI and is expected to boost project revenue by around 3.5% over the next 15 years. The ruling is seen as a significant precedent for regulatory clarity and cost stability in India’s renewable energy sector.
The awarded amount covers increased project costs arising from:
Basic customs duty imposed on solar cells and modules
GST rate hike from 5% to 12%
Carrying cost
The compensation will be disbursed through an annuity mechanism at a 9% discount rate over 15 years, ensuring fair recovery of unforeseen expenses and safeguarding project viability.
The timely adjudication by RERC and its directive for structured payment have reinforced confidence among renewable energy investors and developers, highlighting India’s supportive regulatory environment for clean energy expansion.
