ACME Solar wins 130 MW RTC Renewable Energy Bid for Indian Railways

ACME Solar Holdings Limited has emerged as the winning bidder for 130 MW in the e-reverse auction conducted under REMC Limited’s 1,000 MW Round-the-Clock (RTC) Renewable Energy project. The company secured the bid at a tariff of ?4.35 per unit.

The power procured under this tender will be supplied directly to Indian Railways, which requires a consistent power supply throughout the day to meet its unique load demands. Indian Railways will sign a direct Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the selected developers, without an intermediary. The tariff discovered in this auction highlights the growing competitiveness of renewable energy in delivering high-capacity utilisation factor (CUF) power round the clock through an optimal mix of solar, wind and battery storage at competitive prices.

Under the terms of the bid, ACME Solar must supply renewable energy supported by dispatchable sources and/or Energy Storage Systems (ESS) from ISTS-connected projects to ensure firm RTC power, as required in the tender. The project mandates a minimum annual availability of 75% for the first three years after commissioning and 85% thereafter. Meeting these requirements will involve installing a combination of solar capacity, battery storage, and complementary wind power where needed.

The project is expected to be commissioned within 30 months of signing the PPA. ACME Solar anticipates faster execution due to the availability of land and connectivity within its existing portfolio.
