Sensex, Nifty drag amid India-Pak tensions ; Pakistan halts trading

Indian benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and Nifty50 were range bound in muted trade on Thursday, amid mixed global cues.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80611.05 down by -135.73 points or by -0.17 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24349.75 down by -64.65 points or by -0.26 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80927.99 and intraday low of 80539.57 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24447.25 and intraday low of 24313.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1582.90,+1.30%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1176.85,+1.29%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 687.90,+1.09%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3376.20,+1.07%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2113.10,+0.84%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3036.50,-2.67%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 231.20,-2.41%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12369.85,-2.05%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 143.95,-1.61%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1875.70,-1.07%), among others.



IT index was at 35325.12 up by 101.32 points or by 0.29%. Netweb Technologies India Ltd. (Rs. 1666.10,+7.25%), Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Ltd. (Rs. 346.45,+6.65%), Intellect Design Arena Ltd. (Rs. 855.00,+5.09%), Onward Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 243.35,+3.84%), Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 2154.00,+2.88%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4148 , shares advanced were 1957 while 1989 shares declined and 202 were unchanged.
