Post-Session: Markets end in red as India-Pak tensions rise

Indian equity benchmark indices closed lower on Thursday amid rising geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. The decline followed a statement from the Ministry of Defence confirming that, under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces had targeted and neutralised air defence radars and related systems at multiple locations in Pakistan.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 80334.81 down by -411.97 points or by -0.51 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24273.8 down by -140.6 points or by -0.58 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80927.99 and intraday low of 79987.61 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24447.25 and intraday low of 24150.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1579.10,+1.05%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2112.30,+0.81%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1171.20,+0.80%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3363.45,+0.69%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 681.90,+0.21%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 229.45,-3.14%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3030.80,-2.85%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12371.35,-2.04%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 8818.00,-1.86%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 143.65,-1.81%), among others.



IT index was at 35266.98 up by 43.18 points or by 0.12%. Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Ltd. (Rs. 339.30,+4.45%), Netweb Technologies India Ltd. (Rs. 1620.00,+4.28%), Intellect Design Arena Ltd. (Rs. 844.35,+3.79%), R Systems International Ltd. (Rs. 330.55,+2.61%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 7763.50,+2.17%),.



Realty index was at 6529.84 down by -174.3 points or by -2.6%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2028.70,-4.75%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 655.25,-3.60%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1236.00,-3.41%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1492.20,-2.39%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 438.55,-2.37%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4233 , shares advanced were 1439 while 2624 shares declined and 170 were unchanged.
