Sensex plunges 625 pts, Nifty tests 24,000 amid India-Pak tensions

Indian equity markets today were volatile as tensions between Indian and Pakistan worsened late on Thursday.

At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 79709.26 down by -625.55 points or by -0.78 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24047 down by -226.8 points or by -0.93 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80032.93 and intraday low of 78968.34 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24164.25 and intraday low of 23935.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3500.00,+4.06%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3454.75,+4.04%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 705.35,+3.44%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 298.90,-2.91%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11392.60,-2.03%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1406.95,-1.88%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2302.10,-1.67%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1973.20,-1.62%), among others.



CGS index was at 62811.75 up by 991.12 points or by 1.6%. Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (Rs. 1564.65,+7.65%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 320.50,+4.47%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3454.75,+4.04%), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 4553.25,+3.03%), AIA Engineering Ltd. (Rs. 3137.45,+0.57%),.

Realty index was at 6364.85 down by -164.99 points or by -2.53%. DLF Ltd. (Rs. 628.05,-4.15%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 420.95,-4.01%), Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1243.25,-3.24%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1971.10,-2.84%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1217.50,-2.42%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3236 , shares advanced were 543 while 2582 shares declined and 111 were unchanged.
