NMDC Limited, India’s leading iron ore producer, has reinforced its commitment to inclusive growth and community development by inviting applications for its flagship CSR initiative, the Balika Shiksha Yojana, and launching a new Medical Technology Program in collaboration with Apollo University, Chittoor. These initiatives are designed to empower tribal youth in Chhattisgarh by providing fully sponsored professional education opportunities.
The Balika Shiksha Yojana offers 100% free nursing education to young tribal girls belonging to the Scheduled Tribes from the districts of Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Bijapur, and Narayanpur. Through this initiative, selected candidates can pursue either a four-year B.Sc. Nursing or a three-year GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course at prestigious institutions, including Apollo School of Nursing, Yashoda School of Nursing, and KIMS College of Nursing in Hyderabad. A total of 200 seats are available under this program—110 for B.Sc. Nursing and 90 for GNM. NMDC will bear the full cost of education, including tuition, hostel, and academic expenses, amounting to an estimated Rs 12 to Rs 15 lakh per student. Eligible applicants must come from families with an annual income not exceeding Rs 72,000. The application window for this program will remain open until June 28, 2025.
In addition, NMDC has launched a Medical Technology Program in partnership with Apollo University, aimed at underprivileged tribal boys and girls from Dantewada and Bastar districts. A total of 90 seats are available, with 60% reserved for girls and 40% for boys. Like the nursing initiative, this program also represents an investment of Rs 12 to Rs 15 lakh per student.
