Industrial output growth slips to 9-month low of 1.2% in May

India's industrial production growth slowed to a nine-month low of 1.2% in May 2025, weighed down by weak performance in the manufacturing, mining, and power sectors, impacted by the early arrival of the monsoon, according to official data released on Monday.

Factory output, measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), had recorded a stronger growth of 6.3% in May 2024.

The National Statistics Office also revised the April 2025 IIP growth figure downward to 2.6% from the previously reported 2.7%.
