Sensex up 600 pts, at 82,000, Nifty above 25,100

Indian benchmark equity indices were higher on Monday, driven by the record high close on the Wall Street on Friday.



At 14:27 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81979.76 up by 598.4 points or by 0.74 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25133.5 up by 169.25 points or by 0.68 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82072.17 and intraday low of 81541.2 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25159.75 and intraday low of 25017.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1687.90,+2.56%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3561.90,+2.27%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1685.70,+2.15%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 498.45,+2.05%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1366.20,+1.37%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12589.00,-1.45%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 158.45,-1.40%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11294.00,-1.12%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7222.90,-1.05%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1162.00,-0.89%), among others.



Realty index was at 8247.29 up by 120.93 points or by 1.49%. Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 2005.05,+4.47%), Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1205.95,+3.17%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 3086.80,+2.48%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 859.80,+1.46%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1722.85,+1.12%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4346 , shares advanced were 2138 while 2053 shares declined and 155 were unchanged.
