Sensex, Nifty slip in red; Metal, Auto stocks weigh

Equity benchmark indices slipped in red during the morning deals amid selling in index heavyweights including Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Bajaj Finance Ltd. Tata Steel Ltd. IndusInd Bank Ltd.and JSW Steel Ltd. among others.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81750.46 down by -222.59 points or by -0.27 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25118.7 down by -9.25 points or by -0.04 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82300.44 and intraday low of 81636.67 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25212.05 and intraday low of 25114.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 3074.55,+1.14%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1245.00,+1.06%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1701.35,+0.28%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1167.00,+0.22%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1962.45,+0.19%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3100.55,-1.83%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7101.90,-1.50%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 156.40,-1.20%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1356.25,-1.05%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1002.00,-1.05%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 30278.3 up by 139.11 points or by 0.46%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 423.00,+4.24%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 348.60,+2.47%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 168.50,+1.87%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 233.70,+1.30%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 522.90,+0.94%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3871 , shares advanced were 1924 while 1776 shares declined and 171 were unchanged.
