Benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 pared the early gains to settle in the negative territory on Tuesday.
Bears took the reins on the D-Street as 21 out of 30 constituent stocks of BSE Sensex ended in red, dragged by Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, and Tech Mahindra with losses extending up to 2.47 per cent. Conversely, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, Adani Ports, and UltraTech Cement were among 9 stocks that ended in green with gains extending up to 1.95 per cent.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 81820.12 down by -152.93 points or by -0.19 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25057.35 down by -70.6 points or by -0.28 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 82300.44 and intraday low of 81635.57 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25212.05 and intraday low of 25008.15
