Sensex surges 453 points; HCL Tech, M&M support

Domestic bourses continued to gain strength during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including HCL Technologies Ltd. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Tata Motors Ltd.Infosys Ltd. and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. among others.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80049.46 up by 453.87 points or by 0.57 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24301.9 up by 134.65 points or by 0.56 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80254.55 and intraday low of 79506.9 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24359.3 and intraday low of 24119.95



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1595.40,+7.79%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1437.90,+4.53%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 656.30,+4.02%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1476.45,+3.80%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2904.40,+3.10%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1925.00,-1.88%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2226.25,-1.82%), State Bank of India (Rs. 815.10,-0.89%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 431.40,-0.53%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1211.15,-0.49%), among others.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4267 , shares advanced were 1991 while 2079 shares declined and 197 were unchanged.
