Sensex, Nifty trade lower; Eternal, Airtel, banks weigh

Indian benchmark equity indices were muted at market open on Thursday, after India announced economic and diplomatic measures against Pakistan following a terrorist attack that killed 26 people in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 79871.81 down by -244.68 points or by -0.31 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24253.1 down by -75.85 points or by -0.31 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 80173.92 and intraday low of 79829.11 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24295.15 and intraday low of 24251.55



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 669.20,+1.41%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 803.20,+1.17%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 9420.00,+1.01%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1451.80,+0.87%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2114.00,+0.67%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 236.00,-1.34%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1863.10,-0.99%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3390.00,-0.65%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1911.00,-0.63%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1417.30,-0.47%), among others.



PSU index was at 19101.35 up by 52.27 points or by 0.27%. KIOCL Ltd. (Rs. 265.35,+4.61%), MMTC Ltd. (Rs. 56.95,+1.91%), NMDC Steel Ltd. (Rs. 37.96,+1.85%), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd. (Rs. 298.45,+1.77%), Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 136.40,+1.41%),.



Realty index was at 6872.4 down by -82.52 points or by -1.19%. Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1691.35,-0.89%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 494.00,-0.57%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1319.65,-0.28%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2569 , shares advanced were 1626 while 794 shares declined and 149 were unchanged.
