Sensex plunges 300 points; HUL, Bharti Airtel top losers

Domestic bourses continued to hover in red during the noon trading session weighed down by selling in index heavyweights including Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Bharti Airtel Ltd, ICICI Bank Ltd Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and Eternal Ltd. among others.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 79815.73 down by -300.76 points or by -0.38 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24242.5 down by -86.45 points or by -0.36 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80173.92 and intraday low of 79785.56 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24347.85 and intraday low of 24239.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 826.00,+4.04%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12132.10,+1.54%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 666.90,+1.06%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1801.45,+0.70%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3376.00,+0.58%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2329.00,-3.85%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1843.15,-2.05%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1407.00,-1.19%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2890.00,-0.94%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 237.00,-0.92%), among others.



HCS index was at 42867.95 up by 174.94 points or by 0.41%. Morepen Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 62.51,+14.84%), Thyrocare Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 856.45,+11.39%), Vimta Labs Ltd. (Rs. 1157.25,+10.40%), Natco Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 918.25,+8.65%), Suven Life Sciences Ltd. (Rs. 141.90,+8.40%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4232 , shares advanced were 2086 while 1985 shares declined and 161 were unchanged.
