Stock markets give up early gains; trade lower dragged down by Axis Bank

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were later trading lower dragged down by Axis Bank.



At 10:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 79147.88 down by -653.55 points or by -0.82 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24033.65 down by -213.05 points or by -0.88 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80130.66 and intraday low of 78905.49 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24365.45 and intraday low of 23950.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3428.15,+0.79%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1482.60,+0.77%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 821.75,+0.26%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1918.30,+0.10%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1402.30,+0.00%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1156.25,-4.23%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1194.00,-3.46%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 9055.70,-2.61%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2053.20,-2.48%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 306.70,-2.42%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3808 , shares advanced were 600 while 3050 shares declined and 158 were unchanged.
