Mid-Session: Markets at day's low; Sensex slips 797 pts at 79004 as Pak tensions spike

Indian benchmark equity indices declined on Friday, weighed down by mixed global signals and ongoing concerns over potential escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 79004.33 down by -797.1 points or by -1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23939 down by -307.7 points or by -1.27 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80130.66 and intraday low of 78605.81 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24365.45 and intraday low of 23847.85.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1484.15,+0.87%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3425.00,+0.70%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1455.25,+0.63%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 821.80,+0.26%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1154.65,-4.36%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1195.85,-3.31%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2046.10,-2.82%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 306.35,-2.53%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 355.25,-2.15%), among others.



_IT index was at 34863.3 up by 59.85 points or by 0.17%. MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 2553.00,+3.50%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 5287.65,+2.52%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 7350.00,+1.34%), Cigniti Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1343.85,+0.99%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1484.15,+0.87%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4104 , shares advanced were 602 while 3356 shares declined and 146 were unchanged.
