Mid-Session: Sensex jumps 1000 pts to 80,200 led by RIL, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel

Domestic bourses continued to gain strength during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including Reliance Industries Ltd, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. , Tata Steel Ltd. State Bank of India and Larsen & Toubro Ltd among others.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80254.99 up by 1042.46 points or by 1.32 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24344.85 up by 305.5 points or by 1.27 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80305.03 and intraday low of 79341.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24346.55 and intraday low of 24054.05



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1362.80,+4.83%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1836.90,+2.80%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 142.00,+2.38%), State Bank of India (Rs. 817.25,+2.32%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3345.75,+2.25%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1550.10,-1.85%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2398.00,-0.67%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 9060.00,-0.56%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 227.25,-0.48%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1455.00,-0.44%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 26507.48 up by 760.77 points or by 2.95%. Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1362.80,+4.83%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 308.15,+4.32%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 185.05,+3.84%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 391.80,+3.15%), Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 617.80,+3.01%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4211 , shares advanced were 2138 while 1844 shares declined and 229 were unchanged.
