Post-Session: Sensex, Nifty extend losses amid global weakness

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed lower for the third straight session on Thursday, tracking weakness in global markets as investor sentiment remained under pressure due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.



Analysts also pointed out that the U.S. Federal Reserve’s decision to maintain interest rates added to the cautious mood in the market.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 81361.87 down by -82.79 points or by -0.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24793.25 down by -18.8 points or by -0.08 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 81583.94 and intraday low of 81191.04 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24863.1 and intraday low of 24733.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3091.80,+1.69%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3498.50,+0.74%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3620.20,+0.57%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1875.60,+0.56%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12799.55,+0.45%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1336.80,-2.59%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 899.70,-2.08%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1677.40,-1.95%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 837.50,-1.54%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2309.10,-1.28%), among others.



Auto index was at 52494 up by 220.02 points or by 0.42%. Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 5495.55,+1.91%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3091.80,+1.69%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 4385.10,+0.63%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12799.55,+0.45%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 2788.20,+0.45%),.



Realty index was at 7701.06 down by -127.54 points or by -1.63%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2381.30,-3.21%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 1133.75,-3.16%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1565.00,-2.53%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 515.00,-2.32%), Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1423.00,-1.38%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4323 , shares advanced were 1041 while 3112 shares declined and 170 were unchanged.
