Mid-Session: Sensex up 219 pts; Nifty holds 25,500

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty edged higher in trade as investors were seen assessing reports that the US and India could soon finalise a trade deal to avoid US President Donald Trump's tariffs, which come into force from July 9.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83629.32 up by 219.63 points or by 0.26 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25518.4 up by 65 points or by 0.26 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83836.99 and intraday low of 83348.49 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25576.7 and intraday low of 25429.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3202.55,+1.20%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12765.50,+1.12%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 695.10,+0.97%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 262.25,+0.94%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2441.80,+0.91%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2135.25,-1.50%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1982.75,-1.26%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 915.85,-0.74%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1438.15,-0.35%), State Bank of India (Rs. 810.85,-0.29%), among others.



Auto index was at 53982.46 up by 493.96 points or by 0.92%. Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 34039.05,+4.85%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 4346.60,+2.50%), UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 1116.85,+1.69%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3202.55,+1.20%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 154.70,+1.18%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4185 , shares advanced were 2238 while 1743 shares declined and 204 were unchanged.
