Post-Session: Markets end in red amid trade deal hopes and FII pressure

Indian benchmark indices opened on a positive note and traded with modest gains through most of the session, as investor sentiment remained cautious amid optimism over a potential US-India trade deal and persistent FII selling pressure. However, a sharp bout of late-session profit booking led to a reversal in momentum, dragging the markets into the red by the close.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83239.47 down by -170.22 points or by -0.2 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25405.3 down by -48.1 points or by -0.19 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83850.09 and intraday low of 83186.74 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25587.5 and intraday low of 25384.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12748.00,+0.98%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1618.15,+0.51%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 862.45,+0.50%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2430.40,+0.44%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 334.80,+0.36%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2126.25,-1.91%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1980.35,-1.38%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 910.70,-1.30%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1431.60,-0.80%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3679.35,-0.76%), among others.



HCS index was at 44608.11 up by 326.43 points or by 0.74%. Aster DM Healthcare Ltd. (Rs. 648.50,+9.47%), Indoco Remedies Ltd. (Rs. 339.70,+6.02%), Natco Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 973.55,+5.61%), Eris Lifesciences Ltd. (Rs. 1719.55,+5.46%), GPT Healthcare Ltd. (Rs. 148.50,+5.28%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4401 , shares advanced were 2139 while 2076 shares declined and 186 were unchanged.
