Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty flat; FMCG, CDS stocks support

Indian benchmark indices were trading flat with positive bias during the noon trading session amid buying in index heavyweights including Bajaj Finance Ltd. Hindustan Unilever Ltd.Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Bajaj Finserv Ltd. ITC Ltd.among others.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83740.05 up by 27.54 points or by 0.03 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25543.55 up by 21.05 points or by 0.08 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83781.36 and intraday low of 83519.41 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25548.7 and intraday low of 25472.05



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 942.05,+1.58%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2429.15,+1.51%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3185.65,+0.89%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2034.35,+0.84%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 419.95,+0.70%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 158.20,-2.32%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1678.00,-1.80%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3376.55,-0.87%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3575.65,-0.83%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1628.20,-0.64%), among others.



FMCG index was at 20595.82 up by 169.93 points or by 0.83%. Eveready Industries India Ltd. (Rs. 349.90,+5.50%), Emami Ltd. (Rs. 601.90,+5.00%), Godfrey Phillips India Ltd. (Rs. 8453.50,+2.71%), Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd. (Rs. 1446.10,+1.97%), Gopal Snacks Ltd. (Rs. 358.60,+1.86%),.



Metal index was at 31102.58 down by -545.16 points or by -1.72%. Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 437.00,-4.21%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 422.95,-3.04%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 158.35,-2.22%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 672.50,-1.95%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 132.60,-1.78%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4156 , shares advanced were 2107 while 1846 shares declined and 203 were unchanged.
