Sensex, Nifty flat; TCS Q1 results eyed

Dalal Street remained subdued on Thursday as investors stayed on the sidelines, awaiting clarity on US President Donald Trump's tariff policy and the domestic June quarter (Q1FY26) earnings season. All eyes are on Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which is scheduled to announce its Q1 results later today.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83434.63 down by -101.45 points or by -0.12 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25450.9 down by -25.2 points or by -0.1 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83742.28 and intraday low of 83404.83 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25524.05 and intraday low of 25446.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 160.15,+0.72%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 301.10,+0.50%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 944.30,+0.41%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2033.60,+0.38%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1168.50,+0.33%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3150.10,-0.85%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 687.60,-0.76%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2006.65,-0.56%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 342.05,-0.51%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1658.70,-0.51%), among others.



Metal index was at 31351.29 up by 150.59 points or by 0.48%. Jindal Stainless Ltd. (Rs. 690.70,+1.45%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 135.15,+0.97%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 68.52,+0.93%), APL Apollo Tubes Ltd. (Rs. 1721.60,+0.80%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 160.15,+0.72%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3187 , shares advanced were 2022 while 1015 shares declined and 150 were unchanged.
