Markets trade lower ahead of TCS earnings

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading lower on Thursday as investors stayed on the sidelines ahead of the start of earnings season, with IT major TCS scheduled to announce its Q1 numbers later in the day.



At 10:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83367.22 down by -168.86 points or by -0.2 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25420.25 down by -55.85 points or by -0.22 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83742.28 and intraday low of 83330.28 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25524.05 and intraday low of 25410.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12624.10,+1.25%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 266.30,+0.68%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 846.50,+0.68%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 160.00,+0.63%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1170.15,+0.47%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1986.40,-1.57%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1599.90,-0.95%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2475.20,-0.94%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1619.20,-0.90%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1659.60,-0.86%), among others.



Realty index was at 7582.8 up by 63.49 points or by 0.84%. Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 558.95,+2.11%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1683.85,+2.09%), Signatureglobal (India) Ltd. (Rs. 1261.55,+1.14%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1852.00,+1.05%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2274.60,+0.89%),.



TECk index was at 18510.47 down by -140.2 points or by -0.75%. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1986.40,-1.57%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 140.20,-1.06%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 265.05,-0.99%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1599.90,-0.95%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1619.20,-0.90%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3775 , shares advanced were 2039 while 1512 shares declined and 224 were unchanged.
