Sensex, Nifty stay under stress; TCS drag

Indian equities continued to trade in negative terrain in early morning deals on Friday. In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index, and the Nifty SmallCap index fell 0.82 per cent and 0.91 per cent, respectively.



Among Individual shares, Anand Rathi Wealth surged 4.7 percent on reporting a 28 percent jump in Q1 net profit. While Zee Entertainment Enterprises declined 2.6 percent after shareholders rejected a fundraising plan. Tata Elxsi lost 3.8 percent after turning in yet another weak quarter.



At 10:43 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82735.24 down by -455.04 points or by -0.55 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25239.2 down by -116.05 points or by -0.46 %.



The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 83040.74 and intraday low of 82684.04 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25322.45 and intraday low of 25231.50.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2523.65,+4.76%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2475.70,+1.02%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2423.55,+0.94%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1674.35,+0.67%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12587.05,+0.67%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3307.20,-2.22%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3099.00,-1.98%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2006.95,-1.58%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1593.10,-1.46%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1640.20,-1.39%), among others.



On the sectoral front, HCS index was at 44424.22 up by 168.12 points or by 0.38%. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Rs. 2095.65,+10.00%), Wockhardt Ltd. (Rs. 1774.50,+4.55%), Shilpa Medicare Ltd. (Rs. 910.00,+4.51%), Mankind Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 2623.60,+3.15%), Cohance Lifesciences Ltd. (Rs. 1025.75,+3.04%),.



On the flip side, BSETECk index was at 18165.18 down by -266.76 points or by -1.45%. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 136.95,-3.49%), Tata Elxsi Ltd. (Rs. 5955.60,-3.00%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3307.20,-2.22%), PVR INOX Ltd. (Rs. 990.40,-2.12%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 259.70,-2.04%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3866 , shares advanced were 1507 while 2128 shares declined and 231 were unchanged.
