Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are expected to open on a positive note on July 18, taking cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 25,205.50 earlier this morning.
Market sentiment is likely to be shaped by several key factors, including Q1 corporate earnings, institutional investment trends, India’s foreign exchange reserves, developments in the India-US trade agreement, Japan’s inflation data, and major US economic indicators, along with strong global cues.
In the previous session, benchmark indices ended their two-day winning streak, giving up most of their recent gains due to selling pressure in IT and banking stocks amid disappointing June quarter results.
On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 82259.24 down by -375.24 points or by -0.45 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25111.45 down by -100.6 points or by -0.4 %.
On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets traded higher on Friday, tracking gains on Wall Street after strong US economic data and upbeat corporate earnings lifted investor confidence.
On Wall Street, the rally continued with the S&P 500 climbing 0.54 per cent to 6,297.36. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.52 per cent to 44,484.49, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.7 per cent to 20,885.65.
