Mid-Session: Sensex near day's low; Nifty below 25k

Stock markets were hovering in red during the noon trading session as investors reacted to the June quarter (Q1FY26) earnings of Axis Bank, Wipro, and LTIMindtree.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81679.61 down by -579.63 points or by -0.7 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24939.4 down by -172.05 points or by -0.69 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82334.75 and intraday low of 81608.13 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25144.6 and intraday low of 24918.65



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 161.85,+1.25%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 869.50,+0.54%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1587.00,+0.27%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2455.30,+0.27%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 924.50,+0.06%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1111.05,-4.21%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1899.15,-1.59%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2144.95,-1.24%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1437.95,-1.01%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1967.00,-0.99%), among others.



Metal index was at 31381.6 up by 56.9 points or by 0.18%. NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 70.47,+1.32%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 161.70,+1.16%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 135.00,+1.05%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 958.20,+0.90%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 439.20,+0.49%),.



Bankex index was at 62790.96 down by -795.85 points or by -1.25%. Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1110.80,-4.23%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2144.60,-1.26%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1967.00,-0.99%), Canara Bank (Rs. 114.85,-0.56%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1411.55,-0.53%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4190 , shares advanced were 1569 while 2409 shares declined and 212 were unchanged.
