Sensex down 689 pts, Nifty below 24,900

Indian stock markets were trading significantly lower on Friday amid weakness in Bajaj twins Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv and other heavyweight stocks.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81495 down by -689.17 points or by -0.84 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24852.7 down by -209.4 points or by -0.84 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82069.51 and intraday low of 81405.83 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25010.35 and intraday low of 24806.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1697.25,+0.30%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1937.85,+0.06%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 916.40,-4.44%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1515.05,-2.48%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1983.00,-2.41%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 826.85,-2.41%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 292.50,-2.26%), among others.



HCS index was at 45351.21 up by 104.28 points or by 0.23%. Vimta Labs Ltd. (Rs. 572.55,+13.21%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 1548.10,+4.09%), Solara Active Pharma Sciences Ltd. (Rs. 680.25,+3.48%), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Rs. 3605.50,+2.55%), Syngene International Ltd. (Rs. 685.70,+2.44%),.



Power index was at 6725.26 down by -144.25 points or by -2.1%. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 241.25,-3.85%), Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 982.80,-3.72%), Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 63.34,-3.02%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 83.49,-2.75%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3051.90,-2.44%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4292 , shares advanced were 1055 while 3041 shares declined and 196 were unchanged.
