Post-Session: Sensex plunges 721 pts, Nifty ends at 24,837

Indian stock markets ended sharply lower on Friday, dragged down by weakness in the Bajaj twins — Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv along with declines in other heavyweight stocks.



The 30-share benchmark indices ended at 81463.09 down by -721.08 points or by -0.88 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24837 down by -225.1 points or by -0.9 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82069.51 and intraday low of 81397.69 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25010.35 and intraday low of 24806.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1700.85,+0.52%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1937.60,+0.05%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 913.65,-4.73%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 823.70,-2.78%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 291.45,-2.61%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1515.60,-2.44%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1461.80,-2.44%), among others.



HCS index was at 45338.67 up by 91.74 points or by 0.2%. Vimta Labs Ltd. (Rs. 584.75,+15.62%), Solara Active Pharma Sciences Ltd. (Rs. 694.70,+5.68%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 1531.10,+2.95%), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Rs. 3608.00,+2.62%), Syngene International Ltd. (Rs. 680.00,+1.58%),.



Power index was at 6707.61 down by -161.9 points or by -2.36%. Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 975.95,-4.39%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 240.15,-4.28%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3037.55,-2.90%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 83.47,-2.77%), JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 517.50,-2.75%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4369 , shares advanced were 1204 while 2999 shares declined and 166 were unchanged.
