Due to the rising input costs, Tata Motors, Volvo and Eicher stated that they increased the prices of their vehicles, while their counterpart Ashok Leyland was expected to soon follow suit.
However, while Tata Motors has raised the prices of all heavy commercial vehicles, besides some models in low-capacity trucks by 1% from this month, Volvo Trucks India has hiked prices by 3-4%.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors passed on some cost burden to their customers in some segments.
Similarly, Volvo Trucks India said they had hiked the prices due to high input costs, especially that of steel and rubber.
Prices of Eicher vehicles too had gone up by 2% while Ashok Leyland said it was looking at increasing the prices of its commercial vehicles before March 2010.
