At the ongoing Auto Expo 2010, Fiat India launched the new variants of its existing car model Linea and Punto.
The new variants included the Fiat 500 by Diesel, the Linea Dualogic transmission, the Linea T-Jet, the Grande Punto Natural Power, Grande Punto Sports and the Grande Punto Trendz. During the later part of the year, Fiat will roll out its new variants in a phased manner.
Among all the new cars which were unveiled at the Expo, the Fiat 500 by Diesel and the Linea Dualogic were the most exciting.
One of the main features of Linea Dualogic is the transmission which has a built-in system that allows users to switch between automatic and manual modes, while also having the choice of using both the modes. The variant is said to be capable of offering around 10 per cent more mileage than a traditional automatic gearbox and a 3 to 5 per cent improvement over a manual transmission version.
On the other hand the Linea T-Jet has a turbo-charged petrol engine that puts out a peak power of 110 PS and is the latest generation petrol engine from Fiat.
Whereas the Fiat 500 by Diesel is the Denim brand styled show car version of the cute hatch from Fiat Italy and has been inspired by the European fashion brand and has hints both on the exterior and the interiors, including the Denim cloth upholstery.
Apart from this there is also a possibility of launching the Grande Punto Natural Power later this year which will have the new bi-fuel engine (petrol/ CNG), with the focus being on lowering emissions and also lowering the cost of running, thanks to CNG being cheaper.
