Nxtra by Airtel Unveils FY25 Sustainability Report; Joins Global RE100 Initiative

Nxtra Data Limited (“Nxtra by Airtel”), a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has released its Sustainability Report for FY 2024–25, showcasing its progress in building scalable, intelligent, and sustainable digital infrastructure. The report outlines the company’s efforts across three core pillars of sustainability: reducing environmental impact through renewable energy and efficient operations, promoting social inclusion and workplace safety, and strengthening governance with transparency and accountability.

Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel, said, “Sustainability is a core business imperative embedded into every design, build and operation decision we make. This year, we became the first data centre player in India — and only the 14th company nationwide — to join the global RE100 initiative, committing to 100% renewable energy usage across all operations. We are also leading the industry by leveraging AI at scale to boost energy efficiency and operational performance.”

Key Highlights of FY 2024–25:

Contracted 482,800 MWh of renewable energy — 3X higher than the FY 2021 baseline

Achieved a 10% reduction in average Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) since FY 2021 baseline

Recorded an employee engagement score of 85/100

Strengthened supply chain resilience with 99% of suppliers based in India

Conducted ESG assessments for 98% of strategic suppliers

Ensured 6.15 million safe person-hours in construction

Additionally, Nxtra’s NxtWave initiative continues to drive gender diversity by increasing female representation in engineering roles.

With 14+ large facilities and over 120 edge data centres, Nxtra operates the largest data centre network in India.
