The rupee weakened by 18 paise to 87.76 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday, pressured by sustained foreign fund outflows and increased month-end dollar demand.
According to forex traders, the local currency continues to face headwinds from the impact of Trump’s tariffs, though some support is coming from a softer US dollar, providing partial relief.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 87.73 per US dollar and slipped to 87.76, down 18 paise from its previous close.
