SpiceJet has added three new aircraft to its operational fleet—an Airbus A340 wide-body and two Boeing 737s—marking the beginning of its ambitious winter expansion plan aimed at meeting strong travel demand during the holiday season.
The new aircraft will begin operations between October 10 and 11, initiating a broader fleet ramp-up that includes the addition of 20 aircraft between October and November under a damp lease model. The airline also plans to unground four additional planes by mid-December, further enhancing its capacity.
This expansion is a key step in SpiceJet’s strategy to more than double its operational fleet and triple its available seat kilometers (ASKM) by December 2025. The airline will introduce new routes, increase flight frequencies, and add more destinations across its network.
Commenting on the development, Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, said, “This is just the beginning of a large-scale expansion that will redefine SpiceJet’s operations this winter. With each new induction, we are strengthening our operational capabilities, opening new routes, and enhancing connectivity for passengers across India and beyond.”
