The Government of India has released over Rs 151 crore to West Bengal under the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV FC) Health Sector Grant for “Support for Diagnostic Infrastructure to Primary Healthcare Facilities for Sub-Centres (Rural)” for 2024–25.
The grant, aimed at advancing the Healthy Panchayat vision under the Localised Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs), seeks to promote health and well-being through local governance and strengthen the goal of “Viksit Bharat @2047 through Healthy Panchayats.”
Funds will be used to equip primary healthcare facilities with essential diagnostic services in rural areas, improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots level. The Ministry of Finance released the grant based on recommendations from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with states required to ensure utilization as per operational guidelines and to avoid overlap with schemes such as NHM and PM-ASBY.
