India and the UK have launched the India-UK Connectivity & Innovation Centre, a landmark partnership to boost digital inclusion and advance secure, next-generation communication technologies.
With a joint investment of £24 million over four years, the Centre will foster applied research, lab testing, and field trials—connecting universities, industries, and research hubs to accelerate innovation from concept to market.
The collaboration will focus on three key areas:
AI-driven telecom transformation to optimise networks and unlock new services
Non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) using satellites and airborne systems to expand connectivity to remote areas
Telecom cybersecurity to enhance resilience and reliability of communication systems
Delivered under the UK-India Technology Security Initiative by UKRI and India’s DoT, the project strengthens the UK-India Research and Innovation Corridor, aligning with the 2035 Vision set by both Prime Ministers.
