Govt opens SBI MD, PSU Bank ED Posts to Private Sector Talent

The government has allowed private sector professionals to apply for top management roles in public sector banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI).

Of the four Managing Director (MD) positions at SBI, one has been opened to candidates from the private sector and public sector financial institutions.

Until now, all MD and Chairman positions at SBI have been filled exclusively by internal candidates.
