Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), India’s newest greenfield airport, will commence commercial operations on 25 December 2025, following its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 October. The launch marks a significant addition to the aviation capacity of the rapidly expanding Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
In its first month of operations, NMIA will function between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., handling 23 scheduled daily departures and managing up to 10 flight movements per hour.
The inaugural incoming flight will be IndiGo 6E460 from Bengaluru, expected to land at 8:00 a.m. The first departure from NMIA will be IndiGo 6E882 to Hyderabad at 8:40 a.m. During the initial phase, passengers will have access to services from IndiGo, Air India Express, and Akasa Air, connecting Mumbai to 16 major domestic destinations.
From February 2026, NMIA will transition to 24x7 operations, expanding to 34 daily departures to cater to growing regional demand.
To ensure a smooth and safe launch, the airport is undergoing extensive Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) trials in coordination with airlines, security agencies, and other stakeholders. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was inducted at the airport on 29 October 2025, with teams deployed across key operational areas to bolster security and preparedness.
