ACME Solar commissions Phase-1 Battery Energy Storage System in Rajasthan

ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has commissioned 142.67 MW / 481.49 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in Rajasthan as part of Phase-1 of its planned 585 MW / 2011.24 MWh BESS projects being developed through its subsidiaries.

With this development, the company’s overall portfolio will require the installation of around 17 GWh of BESS capacity in multiple phases across various states.

The newly commissioned BESS units are connected to the existing Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) network and will initially operate on a merchant basis, generating additional revenue by leveraging the price differential between peak and non-peak demand hours. Over time, these systems will be integrated with the company’s Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects and will operate under 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs).

The battery systems are designed to improve grid reliability and power utilisation by storing electricity during periods of low demand and releasing it during peak demand, thereby helping balance energy supply and demand while enhancing overall grid stability.
