NMDC launches Summer Camps for 1,700 Children in Dakshin Bastar

NMDC Limited has launched summer camps across 17 villages in Dantewada district as part of a grassroots initiative aimed at supporting children from tribal communities in Dakshin Bastar.

The camps, being held from May 20 to June 15, 2026, are expected to engage nearly 1,700 children during their summer vacations through activities focused on experiential learning, creativity, and sports.

According to the company, daily participation currently ranges between 30 and 40 children in each village, while mobilisation efforts are ongoing to increase attendance further.

The programme includes reading sessions, craft activities, music workshops, and traditional sports such as kabaddi and kho-kho, along with recreational games and healthy refreshments for children.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with WOSCA, which works in the areas of education and community development.

NMDC stated that the camps aim to create a safe and encouraging environment for children in rural and underserved communities where structured creative learning opportunities are often limited. The programme also focuses on developing social, communication, and confidence-building skills among children.

The company added that participation from children, parents, and local communities has been steadily increasing across the villages where the camps have been introduced, reflecting growing community engagement with the initiative.
