Sensex, Nifty marginally lower; NTPC, HUL weigh

Equity market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading marginally lower on Thursday despite a firm trend in the global peers after US CPI inflation came on expected lines fuelling bets of a 25 basis point rate cut by the Federal Reserve next week.



At 10:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81507.29 down by -18.85 points or by -0.02 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24611.05 down by -30.75 points or by -0.12 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81680.97 and intraday low of 81444.12 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24675.25 and intraday low of 24591.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1259.00,+2.11%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1791.60,+1.77%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1001.90,+1.72%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1992.95,+1.23%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 4467.00,+0.89%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 359.80,-1.57%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2368.00,-1.44%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 788.25,-1.35%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 11151.20,-1.17%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3871.00,-1.15%), among others.



IT index was at 45571.01 up by 430.89 points or by 0.95%. Ksolves India Ltd. (Rs. 1015.05,+4.72%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 9266.40,+2.96%), Nelco Ltd. (Rs. 1409.35,+2.09%), Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 3305.55,+2.07%), AXISCADES Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 572.50,+1.74%),.



PSU index was at 20345.39 down by -135.95 points or by -0.66%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 242.90,-2.68%), Container Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 833.00,-2.66%), Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 246.50,-2.45%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 248.35,-2.15%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 359.80,-1.57%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3976 , shares advanced were 1550 while 2252 shares declined and 174 were unchanged.
