Mid-Session: Sensex climbs 1,400 pts from day's low to 81,450; FMCG, IT support

Indian benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading in the green on Friday, after recouping the losses from the day's lows.



At 12:35 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81466.53 up by 176.57 points or by 0.22 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24594.05 up by 45.35 points or by 0.18 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81551.72 and intraday low of 80082.82 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24598.8 and intraday low of 24180.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1670.75,+3.69%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2371.30,+1.14%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1957.45,+1.13%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11995.00,+1.04%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 331.70,+0.82%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 147.40,-2.29%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 985.05,-2.14%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 979.25,-1.87%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1130.10,-1.35%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1660.05,-1.14%), among others.



TECk index was at 20596.1 up by 186.34 points or by 0.91%. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1670.75,+3.69%), Tejas Networks Ltd. (Rs. 1331.00,+1.96%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1957.45,+1.13%), LTIMindtree Ltd. (Rs. 6714.00,+0.68%), Network18 Media & Investments Ltd. (Rs. 74.56,+0.50%),.



Metal index was at 31462.25 down by -521.49 points or by -1.63%. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 123.40,-4.49%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 231.70,-3.74%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 147.40,-2.29%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 985.05,-2.14%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 226.20,-2.04%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4146 , shares advanced were 1399 while 2593 shares declined and 154 were unchanged.
