Post-Session: Sensex skids 589pts; NSE Nifty end at 24039.35

Rising tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack and repeated ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) triggered heightened volatility in Indian equity markets, causing benchmark indices to close in the red on Friday. Despite this, the markets registered overall gains for the week.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 79212.53 down by -588.9 points or by -0.74 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24039.35 down by -207.35 points or by -0.86 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80130.66 and intraday low of 78605.81 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24365.45 and intraday low of 23847.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3447.35,+1.36%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1461.50,+1.06%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1480.20,+0.60%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12219.25,+0.46%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 822.25,+0.32%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1192.15,-3.61%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1165.30,-3.48%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 228.35,-3.41%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2045.35,-2.85%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 306.25,-2.56%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4287 , shares advanced were 813 while 3329 shares declined and 145 were unchanged.
