Mid-Session: Sensex trim losses; RBI sees limited tariff impact on inflation

Indian equity benchmark indices were trading flat after Governor Sanjay Malhotra-led RBI Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) kept the repo rates unchanged. In addition, fresh tariff threats from US President Donald Trump over India's continued imports of Russian oil weighed on investor sentiment.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80699.9 down by -10.35 points or by -0.01 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24612.7 down by -36.85 points or by -0.15 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 80834.43 and intraday low of 80448.82 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24671.4 and intraday low of 24544.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2496.00,+2.38%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3458.30,+1.15%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1371.90,+1.06%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1077.00,+0.60%), State Bank of India (Rs. 805.20,+0.56%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2238.05,-1.28%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 809.00,-1.25%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1465.50,-1.13%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1444.00,-1.08%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 882.00,-1.06%), among others.



Bankex index was at 61771.26 up by 150.8 points or by 0.24%. Canara Bank (Rs. 108.70,+1.16%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1077.00,+0.60%), State Bank of India (Rs. 805.20,+0.56%), Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 196.55,+0.31%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1448.45,+0.29%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4187 , shares advanced were 1321 while 2687 shares declined and 179 were unchanged.
