Mid-Session: Sensex plunges 437 points; NSE Nifty at 24434.9

Domestic bourses continued to hover in red during the noon trading session weighed down by selling in index heavyweights including Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.Tata Motors Ltd. IndusInd Bank Ltd.Tata Steel Ltd.Hindustan Unilever Ltd.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80106.61 down by -437.38 points or by -0.54 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24434.9 down by -139.3 points or by -0.57 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80421.84 and intraday low of 79979.05 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24542.9 and intraday low of 24387.55



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1989.85,+0.35%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 413.35,+0.33%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1463.70,+0.12%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2494.00,+0.11%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1071.00,+0.03%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1320.30,-3.39%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 639.40,-2.09%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 791.40,-1.46%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 156.55,-1.35%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2500.80,-1.30%), among others.



IT index was at 33853.41 up by -53.32 points or by -0.16%. Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Ltd. (Rs. 377.00,+4.06%), Datamatics Global Services Ltd. (Rs. 1077.35,+2.61%), Cigniti Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1584.75,+2.45%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1677.20,+2.40%), Genesys International Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 573.05,+2.28%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4181 , shares advanced were 1295 while 2714 shares declined and 172 were unchanged.
