Sensex, Nifty in green; FMCG stocks rally, auto slip

Indian equities opened higher on Friday, recovering after a sharp two-day sell-off. Reliance Industries, the country’s largest company by market capitalisation, will hold its 48th annual general meeting (AGM) later today. According to analysts, investors will closely track updates on the company’s strategy to double its Jio and retail businesses over the next three to four years, along with its roadmap for the New Energy (NE) segment aimed at replicating earnings from the oil-to-chemicals (O2C) business.



At 9:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80127.4 up by 46.83 points or by 0.06 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24531.8 up by 30.9 points or by 0.13 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80277.68 and intraday low of 79944.67 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24564.35 and intraday low of 24466.6



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 407.40,+1.67%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2521.75,+1.23%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2684.50,+1.22%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1968.00,+1.13%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1173.50,+0.96%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3202.40,-2.83%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 739.65,-0.95%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1485.95,-0.94%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 328.00,-0.89%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 669.55,-0.87%), among others.



FMCG index was at 20645.11 up by 218.84 points or by 1.07%. Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd. (Rs. 2320.00,+2.57%), Dodla Dairy Ltd. (Rs. 1385.00,+2.40%), Britannia Industries Ltd. (Rs. 5848.00,+2.25%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 407.40,+1.67%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (Rs. 1270.95,+1.67%),.

Realty index was at 6768.91 down by -86.77 points or by -1.27%. Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1473.50,-2.37%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 936.10,-1.80%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1553.30,-1.71%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1190.40,-1.56%), Signatureglobal (India) Ltd. (Rs. 1089.10,-1.24%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3268 , shares advanced were 1509 while 1593 shares declined and 167 were unchanged.
