Stock markets flat after two days of slump

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading flat on Friday after two days of sharp decline amid value-buying at lower levels.



At 10:36 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80179.18 up by 98.61 points or by 0.12 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24515.35 up by 14.45 points or by 0.06 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80277.68 and intraday low of 79944.67 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24564.35 and intraday low of 24464.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1973.50,+1.41%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 405.95,+1.31%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12648.70,+0.99%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3585.50,+0.72%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2507.35,+0.65%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3228.00,-2.05%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 309.45,-1.86%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1151.20,-0.96%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1486.45,-0.91%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 328.20,-0.83%), among others.



Bankex index was at 60448.34 up by 334.93 points or by 0.56%. YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 19.18,+2.62%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1973.50,+1.41%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1059.00,+0.63%), Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 192.80,+0.52%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1404.00,+0.37%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3899 , shares advanced were 2021 while 1658 shares declined and 220 were unchanged.
