Sensex slips 80 pts, Nifty below 25,100; IT, pharma stocks drag

Indian benchmark equity markets were little changed on Monday as investors awaited key cues, including the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision later this week.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81823.03 down by -81.67 points or by -0.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25069.9 down by -44.1 points or by -0.18 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81998.51 and intraday low of 81744.7 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25138.45 and intraday low of 25048.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1011.35,+0.81%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 323.80,+0.73%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12459.95,+0.71%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3593.25,+0.38%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2588.00,+0.30%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3529.00,-1.68%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2508.20,-1.42%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1510.00,-1.02%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3109.60,-0.78%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1604.45,-0.73%), among others.



Realty index was at 7044.4 up by 175.87 points or by 2.56%. Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 600.90,+12.67%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1595.90,+3.04%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 968.50,+2.50%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1639.40,+2.35%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 775.65,+2.30%),.



IT index was at 35265.56 down by -208.5 points or by -0.59%. InfoBeans Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 549.65,-1.91%), Onward Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 314.00,-1.57%), R Systems International Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4524 , shares advanced were 2378 while 1940 shares declined and 206 were unchanged.
