Sensex surges 500 points; NSE Nifty at 25211

Indian benchmark index was trading higher supported by buying in index heavyweights including Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.and Bharti Airtel Ltd. among others.



At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82285.48 up by 499.74 points or by 0.61 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25211.35 up by 142.15 points or by 0.57 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82341.32 and intraday low of 81779.94 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25229.75 and intraday low of 25070.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2020.60,+2.51%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3663.35,+2.18%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3598.70,+1.96%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 15546.65,+1.86%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1937.20,+1.71%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2478.85,-0.94%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1203.85,-0.66%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1003.50,-0.65%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 711.00,-0.24%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2574.90,-0.18%), among others.



Auto index was at 60528.26 up by 759.7 points or by 1.27%. Sundram Fasteners Ltd. (Rs. 1049.60,+3.58%), MRF Ltd. (Rs. 150660.10,+2.23%), Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2459.30,+2.23%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3598.70,+1.96%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 109.80,+1.86%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4474 , shares advanced were 2559 while 1717 shares declined and 198 were unchanged.
