Post-Session: Sensex surges 313 pts; bank, IT stocks lead

The Indian equity market finished higher on Wednesday, hoping for an earlier-than-expected India-US trade deal.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 82693.71 up by 313.02 points or by 0.38 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25330.25 up by 91.15 points or by 0.36 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82741.95 and intraday low of 82490.47 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25346.5 and intraday low of 25275.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 856.95,+3.02%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2050.30,+1.43%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 15780.95,+1.35%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12730.00,+1.20%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1546.65,+1.03%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2059.30,-0.99%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3522.80,-0.98%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 409.30,-0.93%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 738.75,-0.45%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 171.25,-0.44%), among others.



PSU index was at 19721.15 up by 246.58 points or by 1.27%. Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (Rs. 2604.05,+6.77%), IFCI Ltd. (Rs. 59.03,+5.26%), Bank of Maharashtra (Rs. 57.28,+3.98%), Cochin Shipyard Ltd. (Rs. 1889.90,+3.75%), Punjab National Bank (Rs. 111.95,+3.27%),.



Metal index was at 32895.77 down by -161.52 points or by -0.49%. Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1033.50,-1.82%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 213.10,-1.55%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 456.05,-1.15%), APL Apollo Tubes Ltd. (Rs. 1683.45,-0.82%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 750.00,-0.80%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4528 , shares advanced were 2493 while 1845 shares declined and 190 were unchanged.
