Post-Session: Sensex adds 320 pts on US Fed rate cut; Nifty at 25,423

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, closed higher on Thursday after the US Federal Reserve reduced interest rates by 25 basis points to the 4–4.25% range.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83013.96 up by 320.25 points or by 0.39 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25423.6 up by 93.35 points or by 0.37 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83141.21 and intraday low of 82704.92 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25448.95 and intraday low of 25329.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 337.90,+2.96%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1648.90,+1.77%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1540.25,+1.13%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 976.55,+1.05%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1493.70,+0.84%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 711.00,-1.13%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 998.15,-0.83%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2478.30,-0.63%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12640.00,-0.60%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 735.50,-0.44%), among others.



HCS index was at 45130.04 up by 391.31 points or by 0.87%. Themis Medicare Ltd. (Rs. 131.12,+5.92%), Sequent Scientific Ltd. (Rs. 198.90,+4.16%), Supriya Lifescience Ltd. (Rs. 689.00,+4.03%), Biocon Ltd. (Rs. 368.35,+3.94%), Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd. (Rs. 287.50,+3.62%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4543 , shares advanced were 2284 while 2069 shares declined and 190 were unchanged.
